The Versatile Gene Anderson

While he was mainly known as part of one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history, Gene Anderson also wrestled many opponents in  singles match main events.

Ads featured above include matches against Jerry Brisco for the Mid-Atlantic title in Charlotte, a 10-round fight against Art Nelson in Raleigh, Johnny Weaver in a 3-out-of-5 falls bout in Anderson, and Rufus R. Jones in Greensboro.

GENE ANDERSON'S FIRST MATCH IN MID-ATLANTIC?

August 19, 1963 - Charlotte Park Center, Charlotte North Carolina

This is what we believe may be the first match Gene Anderson ever wrestled for Jim Crockett Promotions.

(Clipping from Mark Eastridge, research by Carroll Hall.)

JOURNAL ENTRIES

These are the entries from Gene Anderson's journal reflecting his notes on his two world title shots against Dory Funk, Jr.

A wonderful piece of history, in Gene's own hand.
